Most artists sketch, make preparatory drawings, draft out ideas.  It is an essential tool. The intention of this micro-exhibition of drawings made by painters is to present a range of approaches - from fully-realised, highly-finished pieces through to the scribbled ideas that inform significant work, with the great breadth of styles that lie in between. Drawing is inclusive – anyone can grab a pencil or begin drawing shapes with your finger on a steamed up window, dragging a stick through sand at the beach, doodling in the margins.  It can be therapeutic, a means of accessing the subconscious; a formal enquiry into form, composition; it is the interplay between acquiring knowledge and freeing the imagination. In the spirit of the preliminary sketch, this show is an exploration of these possibilities.
