Bio
Kate Jacob is a contemporary British artist, primarily working in paint with abstracted images and ideas. Born in London she is now based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. Originally studying embroidery and textiles at Manchester Metropolitan University, Kate has also completed the Turps Correspondence Course, and Fine Art Mentoring Course at Morley College, London. Recently she’s had a solo show at Mura Ma Gallery, Manchester, shown at the Manchester Contemporary Art Fair and been in group shows across the UK, including the Terrace Gallery, Studio 1:1 and the Fitzrovia Gallery in London. She has exhibited at The Graves Gallery, Sheffield, Wolff Gallery and The Mall Galleries, London. Her work has been featured by the Guardian, The Yorkshire Post, and Radio Sheffield. She’s been awarded Arts Council Research and Development funds and has been long-listed for the Beep Painting Prize 2024.
Kate also develops and manages art projects, including Print and Drawing Summer Schools at the former Mappin Art Gallery, Sheffield working with artists Claude Heath and Steve Carley; co-founding Open up, South Yorkshires Open studio event, now in its 25th year, and delivering professional development seminars for creative practitioners. More recently she’s been working with Prosaic in Sheffield developing and curating exhibitions.
